BRAZIL - Brazil will resume exports of fresh pork to South Africa following the lifting of the ban South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF).Since 2005, negotiations for reopening the market have been held between the two countries. The ban was implemented due to outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in Brazil that year and only cuts intended for the sausage industry were accepted. In 2014, shipments of pork to South Africa totaled $25,000. In 2015, shipments were $538,000 and last year $3.7 million.
